Chiante Deal, M.A.

I am a native Houstonian and a first-generation college student.  I had a supportive family, and education was important. But we talked little about “how” to move beyond high school. I did well in high school and landed at Sam Houston State in the fall of 1990.  However, the decision to go to Sam Houston was not well-thought-out.  In fact, I merely landed at Sam Houston State because my grades were good, it was close, and somewhat affordable. After some unsuccessful majors, I spent the summer as a Camp Counselor for The Girl Scouts.  There, I finally knew what I wanted to do – what I was called to do. I returned to school, changed my major and became a teacher.

I graduated from Sam Houston State (December 1995), worked 10 years as a teacher/English Specialist/District Staff Development Facilitator before pursuing and successfully completing the MA in Counseling program at Prairie View A&M University in December 2005.  Currently, I am a Doctoral Candidate at Liberty University (anticipated graduation 2027).

Recently retired from education, I remain passionate about staying connected to education and helping students. The college admission process can be daunting and overwhelming, so I am committed to helping provide clarity and encouragement along with strategy and experience.  I use my expertise to provide one-on-one support and celebrate the successes along the way.  I want to help students find their fit, complete applications confidently, and secure financial aid opportunities.

My Why

My Why – Simply put, my “why” is students and their success. Over the years, I’ve watched both students and parents struggle with the college admissions process—often feeling confused, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. That challenge drives me to continually learn, grow, and be a reliable source of information and guidance. My “why” became even more personal when my own children entered high school, and I realized firsthand how quickly graduation approaches and how important early preparation truly is.  Now, my mission is to help students see that college is possible. I want them to approach the admissions process with confidence, grace, and a clear plan. My goal is to guide students and families step-by-step—from understanding what colleges are looking for, to building strong applications, crafting compelling essays, and ultimately finding the best fit for their goals and passions. While no one can predict an admissions decision, I believe every student deserves the chance to present their strongest, most authentic self. That’s what drives me every day—to empower students and families with knowledge, strategy, and hope for a bright future.
